Sleep is so important to use that deprived of it we die in fairly short order. For years I have been putting the message out there that we need more and better quality sleep.
Unfortunately doctors know little or nothing about sleep and usually just prescribe a sleeping pill, Yeeuuch!
Research has found that even people who sleep few hours a night still need the same amount of sleep as the rest of use. They have just learned to be relatively functional with a chronic sleep debt.
Interestingly sleep debt is also associated with overweight, depression, metabolic disorders, digestive disorders and a host of other sickness issues.
I think the moral of the story is that to stay ahead of the crowd all you really need is some balance
